1864TheSea Captain's House1864-The Sea Captain’s House is one of the few places to stay in Santorini where you truly get the feeling you are in a real house. The two-storey mansion is partly caved into the cliff, while its facade is a combination of renaissance inspired upper level, made out of dark volcanic stone and a more traditional, island style lower level, washed in a creamy colour.
The interiors are a blend of characteristic elements of Cycladic cave houses and of 19th century mansions. The wide plank floors are quite rare for Santorini, you only find these in the mansions build by rich sea captains, and the cross-vaulted ceilings, are among the highest in Oia.
There are three suites and one cave house. The Venetian and the Sailing suites on the upper level are both doubles. The Captain’s suite, on the level below, has room for up to four people. The suites have all large marble–clad bathrooms and are fitted with a television, wireless internet connection, air conditioning, espresso machine, and a complementary mini bar stocked with soft drinks.
The Cave Suite located on the Courtyard level of The Sea Captains House with private traditional Courtyard and a raised terrace with views to sea, caldera and volcano. Cave suite is one of the biggest Oia’s cave houses with traditional arc ceiling. Suite was renovated this year in minimal style combined with antique furnishing. King bed in the main room and one queen bed in the second bedroom. White marble cave deep soaking tub, two more white marble bathrooms, seating area, two dressing rooms, desk, free WiFi, air conditioning, satellite TV, mini refrigerator, Espresso machine, tea service are included in the suite. Breakfast is served to your table on the Terrace or inside your suite from early to late into the day.
The hotel is located towards the end of Oia, close to the “sunset castle”, just under the main pathway that crosses the village. |
